Clinical & Practical Considerations in Cardiometabolic Medicine
Description

Overview

Given the prevalence of poor cardiovascular outcomes among patients with diabetes, effective care requires skilled counseling by experts with a deep understanding of both endocrinology and cardiology. Traditionally these disciplines have been fractured across different clinics and departments, reducing convenience for patients, and elevating the risk for conflicting medical advice. While the inefficiencies of traditional care models have long been evident, breakthroughs such as SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists are ushering in a new era of integrated therapy that, in turn, is enhancing the urgency of more streamlined approaches to consultation.

Through a series of six instructional videos, this free course developed jointly by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) serves as an introduction on how to achieve a new, better paradigm in diabetes care by providing insights and guidance from global experts at the forefront of creating cardiometabolic clinics.

Target Audience

Clinicians, nurses, technicians, and hospital administrators committed to institutionalizing cardiometabolic medicine as a subspeciality with the proper medical staff, workflows, and facilities. All education is presented in English, but versions with subtitles are available for speakers of Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese.
