This article reviews existing literature on uncomplicated TBAD and highlights contemporary surgical and medical strategies to manage this condition. Looking ahead, efforts are underway to identify and characterize a high-risk subgroup of patients with acute uncomplicated TBAD who may benefit from early intervention.

• Evaluate treatment options for patients with type B aortic dissection.
• Discuss the system used to classify aortic dissection.
• Describe anatomical features in patients with type B aortic dissection that increase risk for late aorta-related complications.
