Learner Objectives
Upon completion of this program, you should be able to:
- Explain the role for surgical intervention in asymptomatic patients with severe primary mitral regurgitation and worsening ejection fraction (EF) and/or increasing left ventricular (LV) dimension on echocardiography.
- Describe the role of preoperative echocardiographic EF and LV end-systolic diameter in predicting postoperative LV dysfunction following mitral valve repair.
