Learner Objectives 
Upon completion of this activity, you should be able to: 

  • Recognize the superiority of PET over SPECT for assessment of ischemic heart disease, summarizing the clinical and technical advantages.
  • Integrate PET imaging into a multimodality approach including optimizing diagnostic accuracy, therapeutic decision-making, and patient management.
  • Recognize how to deliver a high-quality PET program, including appropriate referral criteria, patient preparation, image acquisition, interpretation and communication of test results.
  • Evaluate evolving advancements in PET, including imaging for the detection of diffuse coronary atherosclerosis and coronary microvascular dysfunction.
Target Audience 
The target audience for this activity are general cardiologists and the cardiac care team (RN, NP, PA).
