The association with a preceding stressor is a characteristic feature of Takotsubo syndrome (TTS). Negative emotions prior to TTS are common and led to the popular term ‘broken heart syndrome’. In contrast, pleasant triggers (‘happy heart syndrome’) are rare and scarcely investigated.
